The inception of a wisdom attempt to do good for the disadvantage children who are from poor and disadvantaged families has not been a sheer coincidence when a group of youngsters joined hand in 1979 with a spirit to serve the needy despite their own personal constraints that majorly included acute financial stringency as well as the demographical limitations of the locality where the venture been started.
This is the story that speaks very simply about the background to Origin of Acharya Harihar Sishu Bhawan.
To empower the poor mass, develop their potential, improve their socio-economic status and eradiate poverty thereby bringing sustainable development with emphasis on weaker and vulnerable section.
To show path to all deprived people of society which is just and participatory, free from all sorts of discrimination ensuring equal rights to all irrespective of Caste, Creed, Sex and Religion by providing equal opportunities.
To work for forming a society free from any discrimination ensuring possibilities of all possible support to neglected mass, esp. the vulnerable through capacitation & development.
We provide library facility with wide range of collection of books along with computer education and elearning programme to enhance digital literacy. Odia and English newspapers are also provided regularly. Art and craft classes are also provided to explore the creativity amongst inmates. Apart from traditional schooling we also provide technical and vocational training. Educational counselling is also provided.
Quality food are provided to inmates in a planned and balanced food menu provided by Odisha State Child Protection. Breakfast, lunch, supper and dinner are served with proper monitoring of food quality and nutrition. Safe drinking water facility with RO water purifiers and coolers is ensured. Kitchen garden is also available for fresh organic vegetables and to inculcate the process of cultivation amongst inmates.
We provide 24 x 7 medical facility to the inmates.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the staffs of AHSB tied the sacred thread to inmates and expressed their gratitude for their Raksha with the bandhan. This is a symbol of universal brotherhood and to foster the spirit of love.

District and state level events are organised as mahak and utschah to create a child friendly atmosphere. Inmates participated in cultural and athletic events, allowing them to explore their interests and abilities.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, multiple events like quiz contests, speech and song competition are organised. Inmates are taught of the values and practices imparted by Gandhi ji. A small cleanliness campaign is also held.
